Congratulations to RBL on winning tonight's Caldwell Cup Final. Opponents Carr-bridge were never really in the running and in the end RBL cruised home to a deserved 3-0 win and lift their first item of silverware for the season. The winning team is pictured below with the trophy.

And a very special thank you to off-duty referee Andy Masson who stepped in to officiate the game (in his jeans and work boots!) when the scheduled ref failed to show. We were just very fortunate he happened to pop by to watch the game, so thanks Andy!

3 July 2008

The friendly between Rothes FC of the Highland League and a SBWFA select XI has been confirmed as taking place on Saturday the 12th July at Carr-bridge. We'll provide a more detailed analysis of this game nearer the time.

Once more it was a night of twists, turns and surprises as the David Ritchie & Sons League continued being completely unpredictable. With the lead changing hands between three different clubs in three weeks, the full list of scores were as follows:

Tomatin 3 - 0 Tomatin Utd

The Strathy's online coverage of last week's fixtures is now available and can be found by clicking here.

Again, if you want a report of your game to appear in both the paper and its online version, you'll need to let us know. We can't just make reports up from thin air after all!

24 June 2008

In a night of high drama, the top 3 sides in the SBWFA League all swapped places as yet another twist in the 2008 season coiled itself around the League table. The full results were:

Aviemore Thistle 0 - 4 Tomatin
Tomatin Utd 3 - 5 Cromdale
Carr-bridge 0 - 2 RBL

20 June 2008

Tomatin tonight booked their spot in next Friday's Caldwell Cup semi final with a convincing 5-1 win over local arch rivals Tomatin Utd. They will now meet RBL in what is set to be another exciting clash.

19 June 2008

Due to a severe lack of players, Aviemore Thistle have been forced to forfeit tomorrow's Caldwell Cup 1st Round tie with RBL. This then sees RBL go forward to face either Tomatin or Tomatin Utd at home in next Friday's semi-final.

18 June 2008

Firstly, we must apologise for the lack of information last night on all the action, however the website's host server FTP interface was been down between 8pm and 8am this morning. (And if that is Double Dutch to you, it simply means we've had no way to update anything till now!)

Anyway, it was League business again last night, and the game of Leader Leapfrog continued as Carr-bridge and RBL swapped places at the top of the table once more. The full results were as follows:

Aviemore Thistle 1 - 4 Cromdale
Carr-bridge 4 - 0 Tomatin Utd
Tomatin 2 - 1 RBL

The Strathy's round up of all last week's League action can be found here.

TEAM LINES

Following a spate of poor quality team lines being submitted to match referees, clubs should now be aware that a fine of £5 will now be levied for EACH team line incorrectly completed. This association spent quite a bit of time preseason creating a standard team line for all clubs to use, however we have recently had cases of quickly scrawled notes on blank sheets of paper being received instead: no numbers, addresses, signatures etc.

This is unacceptable, especially when the standard team line is available to anyone as a download from this website (click here or visit the DOWNLOADS section on the left). We strongly suggest clubs make and keep sufficient copies for the remainder of the season - and use them.

Please note that no further warnings will be given regarding this issue.

10 June 2008

It was week 8 of the 2008 league campaign tonight, and the scores were:

RBL 8-3 Tomatin Utd
Carr-bridge 1-5 Aviemore Thistle
Tomatin 2-1 Cromdale

This sees a change at the top of the table with RBL leap-frogging Carr-bridge into top spot.

10 June 2008

North v South game off.

Due to an unforseen problem beyond our control securing the use of Strathspey Thistle FC's ground for Friday's game, it has been reluctantly decided to cancel the annual North v South game this year. Given that it's the SBWFA's showcase game, playing it at any other ground, especially at such very short notice, would simply be unworkable. However there are other possibilities for later in the year and these shall be investigated further.

We can only apologise to all those who were looking forward to this game.

9 June 2008

Firstly apologies to all for not having updated this website since last Tuesday, but I'm afraid even webmasters take a holiday (especially when it's their birthday!) However normal service is now resuming.

Secondly, congratulations to Tomatin FC on winning their own trophy on Friday with a 4-1 defeat of RBL. Unfortunately we have not received any reports of photos of the game, but if anyone cares to oblige we'll be happy to pop them up here.

3 June 2008

It was back to League duty tonight for all 6 clubs, and another high scoring Tuesday it was. The scores were:

Tomatin 1 - 3 Carr-bridge
Cromdale 2 - 5 RBL
Aviemore Thistle 7 - 5 Tomatin Utd

This now sees RBL and Carr-bridge with a bit of daylight between themselves and Tomatin, but still only a point between 1st and 2nd.

We'd also like to remind clubs that we need you to help us promote our League to a wider audience. You'll have noticed reports are now appearing in The Strathy, but these don't just come from thin air. We need you to let us know how your games went: scorers, major incidents etc. From this we can make up the weekly summary for the paper. So please, it only takes a few minutes to jot down an email and send it to us.

Thanks.

2 June 2008

Due to the unfortuate vandalism of a set of goalposts, tomorrow's match between Aviemore Thistle and Tomatin Utd has been switched to Carr-bridge. It's hoped that the posts will be repaired or replaced by the end of this week.

Also, congratulations to Tomatin for making it into the quarter final of the Highland Welfare Cup on Sunday, defeating Nairnshire's Uncle Bob's 3-1.
