Tomatin Utd tonight stunned 2nd place Kingussie with a hard-fought 1-0 win away from home. As yet we've not received confirmation of the Aviemore derby result. We hope to have this, and revised league standings, as soon as possible.

Kingussie made it 2 cups from 2 tonight with a solid 6-1 win over Tomatin United in the RBL Cup Final.

A hat-trick from Thomas Borthwick, one each from Rory Borthwick, Fraser Munro and an own goal from Alan Bartlett were enough to see the Kings lift the silverware. Alan Edward got a stunning consolation goal for the unfortunate United in their first ever cup final.

We were reminded recently of exactly how long the SBWFA has been on the go. And for those with no idea, Nethy Bridge FC won the first League crown in season 1929/30. This means 2009 is a milestone year for the Association - 80 years old!

So we decided to dig a bit deeper and create some form of Association history, only to find next to no archived information from which to work. So now we're asking you to help.

Did you or one of your older relatives ever play in the SBWFA League in days gone by? If so, we'd love to hear from you. Any information would be very welcome: previous clubs; venues; competitions; players etc.

It was RBL Cup action this evening, and a narrow 3-2 win away to Aviemore Thistle saw Kingussie through to their second final of the year in 2 weeks time. Their opponents will be Tomatin Utd who pulled off a sensational 3-1 win over RBL, having lost 5-0 to the same team only last week.

What a difference a week makes indeed!

It was an evening of high scoring in tonight's League fixtures once again.

RBL opened up a commanding 5 point lead at the top of the table courtesy of a 5-0 win over Tomatin Utd. Kingussie, fresh from their McCook Cup triumph leap-frogged into 2nd place with a 5-1 demolition of Aviemore Thistle. Full details should appear in next week's Strathy.
