As there was no online Strathy match reports this week, we now have a copy of the paper version for viewing instead. Click here to view it.

We hope to see the online version back again next week, as we know many ex-pats enjoy catching up with the news from home.

Another eventful evening of League action saw RBL Aviemore open up a 2 point lead at the top of the table following their 7-1 demolition of local rivals Aviemore Thistle.

The other game was a much closer affair with Kingussie fortunate to secure a 1-1 draw at Tomatin Utd.

There's an excellent article about the SBWFA in today's online version of The Strathy, including a brief report of last week's games. View it by clicking here.

It's always nice to see your club being mentioned in the local press, so please contact Alasdair MacNeill as soon as possible after each game with a summary so he can write-up a report for the following week's Strathy. It helps promote the League and the clubs, plus it gives the players some bragging rights at work when someone brings the paper in!

Thank you.

It was McCook Cup night tonight to decide who would face-off in the final a week on Tuesday.

In the first semi-final, Kingussie entertained Tomatin Utd and ended-up running out 7-1 victors. Meanwhle the Aviemore derby saw RBL advance by the odd goal in 3 over Thistle. This now sees Kingussie face RBL for the first bit of silverware of 2009 on Tuesday 26 May.

Clubs are reminded that matchday team lines must be submitted using only the Official SBWFA form (available for download here), and they must also be fully completed and signed by club officials.

Referees have been advised not to accept any incorrectly produced team lines from now on.

Also, a revised fixture list is now available in the Downloads section of this site, however you can also get it here. It's a Microsoft Excel sheet this time as opposed to a PDF document like last year, so hopefully it will be easier for those without Acrobat Reader installed to use.

Following last night's events at Aviemore, we would like to remind clubs of the procedure to be followed should they be unable to field a side and thus forfeit a game.

The first contact must be made to referee organiser Alasdair MacNeill so he can advise the designated match official as soon as possible. He will also contact the other club, but your own club may do that too as a matter of courtesy.

Clubs are also reminded that failure to follow this process will, in addition to a likely SBWFA fine, see them liable for the referee's travel expenses. Another reason to have the match official advised in good time.

Well that's the season underway and tonight proved to be a mixed bag.

Tomatin Utd find themselves top of the table on goal difference courtesey of a 3-0 walkover awarded when Aviemore Thistle failed to raise a team. However there was action down in Badenoch where Kingussie made their welcome return to the SBWFA. It wasn't to be their night however as visitors RBL ran-out 4-2 winners.

4 May 2009

The long wait is almost over as the SBWFA 2009 season kicks off tomorrow night at Aviemore and Kingussie. We wish all 4 clubs well and look forward to another exciting few months.

As ever, this website will be updated with results and standings as soon after the final whistles as possible. Clubs are reminded to contact Alasdair MacNeill with their results and a brief report after every game.
